To strengthen youth and families and to reduce the incidence of delinquency, abuse, and neglect through community involvement
Casework Services
Youth Assistance provides confidential, short-term, family-centered counseling and referral services for young people, 16 years of age or younger and their families, who live in Keego Harbor, Orchard Lake Village, or West Bloomfield Township. There is a one-time $25.00 processing fee for all casework services. Referrals are accepted from schools, police, neighbors and parents themselves with concerns about their child. The Family Division’s Intake Unit diverts cases when, in their judgment, Youth Assistance services are most appropriate; there could be additional costs for court diversion agreements. Typical reasons for referral include retail fraud, school and home problems, assault, alcohol and other drug abuse, and violations of local ordinances.
Youth Recognition
West Bloomfield Youth Assistance recognizes young people from our community for making positive, volunteer contributions every year. Nominations come from schools, hospitals, religious organizations, fire and police departments, and private citizens who have been helped by a youth. Local, county, and state dignitaries participate in making these events very special. We do this because we believe that positive behaviors are often overlooked. These young people serve as role models for their peers; they reassure the community that the future is in good hands. The winners are honored at our annual Youth Recognition Awards Ceremony in the spring.
